Steering Wheel Console

In a real race car, the driver naturally depends on the seat, seat belts, pedals, and steering wheel to stabilize himself as the vehicle is driven around the track. This natural tendency for the driver to brace with the steering wheel is also present in a motion simulator, so the steering wheel must be strong and securely mounted.

The BlueTiger Steering Wheel Console features an all-metal structural design with proven steering and electronic components to meet the demands of aggressive home, commercial, and arcade use in a motion simulator.

The Steering Wheel Console is adjustable forward and backward, up and down, and tilts ±7.5° so controls can be set to the correct height, distance, and angle for the driver. The Steering Wheel Console assembly replaces the generic Controller Shelf.

The steering wheel assembly has 270° of rotation and features all metal construction with a strong DC motor to provide realistic force feedback effects. The steering wheel is 11" in diameter and is covered with a resilient rubber coating. Other styles, sizes, and brands of race steering wheels can be easily fitted.

The BlueTiger Steering Wheel Console features electronics with fully adjustable force feedback effects, automatic calibration and ranging of potentiometer and encoder inputs, with an optional default centering spring on feedback axes. There is support for up to 16 digital programmed switches, which are available in various configurations, including paddle or button shifters, 6-speed stick shift, and programmable toggles and pushbuttons.

The connection to the game computer is USB and requires DirectX 7.0 or later. 24VDC power for the BlueTiger Steering Wheel Console is supplied directly from the main BlueTiger power supply, so no external power supply is required when it is used with the simulator. If the BlueTiger controls are to be used without the simulator, then a power supply just for the controls can be ordered.

PADDLE SHIFTER -- The Paddle Shifter includes shift-up shift-down pull paddles and 6 additional user-programmable pushbuttons in a billet aluminum enclosure that mounts behind the steering wheel.

6-SPEED STICK SHIFT -- The 6-Speed Stick Shift is a gated assembly with realistic feeling gear selection. The six stick positions are user-programmed to function as gears 1 to 6. The modular 6-Speed Stick Shift assembly is mounted on either side of the seat.

ROCKER SWITCH PANEL -- 8 additional user-programmable switch contacts are available in a separate switch panel. The panel has 4 center-off double-throw momentary rocker switches for 8 total contacts. The switch panel mounts to the right front of the steering console.

The BlueTiger Steering Wheel Console may be ordered with any one, any two, or all three of the shifter and switch options. If only two of the shifter and switch options are installed, then the first one will operate inputs 1-8 and the second one will operate inputs 9-16.

However, if all three switch options are installed, then inputs 9-16 will be shared by two of the switch options. For example, the rocker switches would operate independently on inputs 1-8. And, since the Paddle Shifter and Stick Shift are never used at the same time, they would share inputs 9-16. The user can configure the three steering wheel switch options in any combination:
