Monitor

BlueTiger can use a wide variety of monitors types, placements, and mounting methods. Single or multiple, LCD, LED, plasma, and projector monitors can all be used. They can be located on and move with the cockpit (the strongly preferred location) or they can be stationary and place on the floor in front of the simulator. Each has its own advantages and dis-advantages.

BlueTiger recommends the triple LCD monitor assembly especially for racing applications. As a rule of thumb, the best simulators will use multiple monitors to fill the driver’s field of vision. More field of vision is almost always better. The BlueTiger Triple Monitor Assembly is 60 inches wide and is mounted directly behind the steering wheel console only 36" from the rider. It is close enough to fill the rider's field of vision but far enough away so individual pixels cannot be seen. Racing simulator are better with multiple monitors for a wide field of view as the action is mostly all left and right on the horizontal plane. It would take 12 feet of floor-monitors placed 18 inches in front of the simulator just to equal the field of vision of Bluetiger’ cockpit-mounted 22 inch triple monitors; a big difference considering the extra cost and complexity.

A single LCD or LED television with VGA computer input cans also be used and is sometimes preferred for flight simulation because it gives a wider vertical (up and down) field of vision. Single LCD televisions are economical, convenient, and most will find the television speaker system is more than adequate for very dramatic frequency range and volume.

Single and multiple monitors that are part of the cockpit and/or move with the driver and controls are the most preferred. They provide a stable visual reference from the driver’s perspective and significantly add to the quality of the simulation and immersion. All high-end commercial simulators use this method. Monitors that are physically part of the moving cockpit also have the advantage of being closer to the driver so a smaller lighter weight monitor(s) can be used. Single and multiple monitors located on the floor in front of the simulator must be much larger (and more expensive) because they are so much farther away.

Cockpit-mounted triple-monitor assemblies with 22” widescreen monitors and single monitors up to 42” are currently supported by BlueTiger. Alternatively BlueTiger can be ordered without monitors and customers can add their own floor-mounted or projection systems as preferred. All configurations can be used by BlueTiger.
